UPM LAUNCHES FIRST SATELLITE OFFICE IN CHINA

FUZHOU, 12 October – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pingtan Institute of Xiamen University (XMUPT), marking the launch of UPM's first China Super Satellite Centre (CSSC) in China.

The event was officiated by the Deputy Mayor of Pingtan, He Jieming, and UPM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah.

This collaboration aims to strengthen academic and research ties between Malaysia and China, supporting offshore education, research partnerships, cultural exchanges, technology transfer, and student mobility programs.

The CSSC launch follows UPM's earlier establishment of the UPM-Kyutech Japan Super Satellite Centre (JSSC) in Wakatmatsu, Japan. Both initiatives symbolize UPM's dedication to fostering international collaboration and promoting global student enrolment, aligned with Malaysia’s goal to become a global education hub by 2025.

The launch ceremony was also attended by the Rector of XMUPT, Associate Professor Dr. Lin Fan, the Dean of the School of Business and Economics (SPE) UPM, Professor Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin, and the Deputy Dean of Graduate Studies SPE UPM, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Anuar Shah Bali Mahomed.
