PUTRAJAYA, August 20 - The Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), formed a strategic partnership with the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) in the field of advocacy and legal policy related to economic law under the Act 2010 [Act 712].

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris, said the strategic collaboration would encourage a more effective implementation of competition law in Malaysia, especially for activities involving education and research in competition law.

“This collaboration is able to equip lecturers and provide exposure to UPM students to be involved directly with MyCC mainly through the industrial training opportunities. UPM and MyCC have also agreed to provide access to both of their resource centres for research and academic purposes.

“The consulting services and research in competition law also involved the Act 2010 (Act 712)" she said during the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between UPM and MyCC here today.

The Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said that both parties will gain benefits as MyCC is able to provide a platform for universities, while UPM has the expertise that could help MyCC to strengthen the implementation of the Competition Act 2010 to protect consumer interests.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Aini and the Chief Executive Officer of MyCC, Iskandar Ismail, and witnessed by Datuk Seri Saifuddin and the Dean of FEP, Prof. Dr. Azali Mohamed. - UPM
