UPM delegation led by Professor Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) Pays Courtesy Visit and Establishes Close Cooperation with the Chivast Education International, Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).

China, April 26, 2024 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the School of Business and Economics (SPE) conducted a courtesy visit to the Chivast Education International, Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) in Beijing, China.

CSCSE is an entity under the Ministry of Education of China and is the only official organization providing assessment and recognition services for foreign qualifications in China.

The UPM delegation, led by Professor Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), and from the School of Business and Economics, UPM (SPE UPM), represented by Prof. Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin (Dean of SPE) along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anuar Shah Bali Mahomed (Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies) and Dr. Gu Guoxing (Escort), participated in the discussions.

Meanwhile, CSCSE was led by Yunhua Jin (General Manager/Executive Director), Chivast Education International, Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).

Among the agreed cooperation is to expand the collaboration between UPM and CSCSE in the implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs. Specifically, the proposal for expanded cooperation in the context of implementing undergraduate programs based on the 3+1 concept, which entails 3 years of study at UPM and 1 year of study at a leading university in China.

As for the Master's Program by Coursework (MSKK), the proposal is for a 1+1 arrangement, which means 1 year at UPM and 1 year at a leading university in China.

Through this approach, students can choose to obtain either a joint degree, dual degree, or double degree.

Furthermore, joint supervision programs for Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs are also proposed to be implemented through collaboration between UPM and leading universities in China through CSCSE.

Agreement has also been reached to proceed with the next step, which is signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UPM and CSCSE soon. This is an important step in strengthening academic relations and expanding educational opportunities between UPM and leading universities in China through close cooperation with CSCSE, especially in the implementation of joint degree, dual degree, double degree, and joint supervision programs.

The collaboration endeavours are expected to enhance the reputation and impact of both institutions internationally and open up new opportunities for the development of knowledge and sustainable cooperation in the future.
