BACKGROUND OF TRIMESTER BACHELOR PROGRAMMES, SPE UPM
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Universiti Putra Malaysia appoints a Coordinator to oversee the Bachelor Program (Trimester), SPE UPM. The Coordinator is supported by an officer who oversees the student academic administration system. Since 1997 to the present, the School of Business and Economics has provided this Bachelor (Trimester) programme.
PROGRAMME'S OBJECTIVE
In general, the Bachelor Programme for Executives aims to equip students with the knowledge and understanding of current economic, management, finance, accounting and business issues. Specifically, the programme aims to:
LEARNING APPROACH
Students with extensive experience in business and management are considered to be unique and valuable backgrounds. Their experience, as well as exposure to economic and management theories and concepts, will give them an understanding of the deeper and mature academic subjects. Hence, the strategies and methods of teaching this program more emphasize on interactive discussions, group building, case studies, simulation exercises and problem solving.
The emphasis on learning process will lead to conceptual and theoretical applications that are linked to the real experience of students in business and management. Furthermore, the combination of advisory services and experienced lecturers and learners will further strengthen the learning of this programme.
Such learning programs will further enhance the knowledge and understanding of students in addressing the challenges of globalization and business and management changes with a more intelligent, systematic and professional self-esteem, community and nation. ACADEMIC SYSTEM
The Trimester Programs are conducted on a trimester system with three trimesters in each academic year. The duration of each academic year is as follows:

III March-June
Every Trimester consists of 17 weeks where 14 weeks for lecture, one (1) week for final exam and two (2) or three (3) weeks break between the trimesters. Lectures for all programs are conducted in the evening beginning at 6.30 pm until 9.30 pm four to five times a week from Monday to Friday for all programs. All lectures are conducted at the School of Business and Economics, UPM Serdang, Selangor.
