Annuar Md Nassir begins his primary education at Ngee Heng Primary English School before moving on to Sekolah Menengah Datuk Jaafar in Johor Baharu. After completing his Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) in 1975, he enrolls in the UPM’s Diploma in Agriculture before being promoted to B.S. Agribusiness in 1977. He won the Syed Kecik Award for Best First Year Undergraduate student in 1977/78, the Dunlop Award for Best Second Year B.S. Agribusiness in 1978/79 and SEARCA Award for Best Final Year B.S. Agribusiness. After graduating in 1981 Prof Annuar joins the Faculty of Resource Economics and Agribusiness as a tutor and subsequently obtained his Masters of Business Administration degree with High Distinction in 1983 at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (currently ranked No 92 by Times Education supplement 2005). He then completed his Ph.D degree in 1991 at UPM (then Universiti Pertanian Malaysia). He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1993 and subsequently to full professor in 2000. From 1997 to March 2002, he was the Head of Accounting and Finance Department of the Faculty of Economics and Management, on sabbatical leave from April to August 2002, appointed as Deputy Dean of the faculty on 1 September 2002 and served as UPM Senat member from 2001 to 2004. He was appointed as Dean of the Faculty from 1/2/2006 and Coordinator of Economics and Business cluster from 1/5/2006.
During his tenure, Prof. Annuar won the consolation prize at the UPM Best Research Award competition in 1996, the Best Paper Award at the Pacific Basin Finance conference in 1998, Best Paper Award at the Malaysian Finance Workshop in 2000, Faculty of Economics and Management Seminar 2001 Best Paper Award (2nd and 3rd placing), Securities Commission of Malaysia Best Paper award 2001 (for FEP Seminar 2001), Pertanika JSSH Best Article Award in 2002 and 2nd and 3rd overall as well as Best paper award (finance discipline) at the FEP 2005 Seminar. He also won two golds and 4 bronze awards at the UPM Research Exhibition 2006. He has published over 80 research articles (a list include Investment Management and Financial Innovation Journal, International Research Journal of Finance and Economics, Journal of Restructuring Finance, European Journal of Economics, Finance and Administrative Sciences, European Journal of Social Sciences, IFCAI Journal of Audit Practice, Asian Economic Journal, Pacific Basin Finance Journal, Global Business and Finance Journal, Hongkong Journal of Business Management, Kajian Ekonomi Malaysia, Capital Market Reviews, Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences among others), co-authored 7 books and supervised more than 20 Ph.D students of which more than 15 have graduated. He is married to Puan Hafizah bte Ismail with three children.
