SERDANG, 24 June – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to excel in international rankings by becoming the first Malaysian university to be listed as top 10 best young universities in the QS 2021 World University Rankings 50 Under 50.

It was ranked 12th the year before. This achievement marks a continuous improvement for five consecutive years, thus maintaining UPM’s position as the best young university in Malaysia.

This outstanding achievement proves that a young university such as UPM is capable of achieving excellence, reputable status and strong image branding and be at par with more established universities.

The success also saw a rise in UPM's performance in almost all indicators evaluated, with its international student indicators reaching the highest score. This is in line with UPM's efforts to strengthen international collaborations through various internationalisation programmes.

The Top 50 under 50 QS rating uses the same six indicators as the QS World University Ranking rating i.e. Academic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Student to Faculty Ratio (20%), Citations per Faculty (20%), International Faculty (5%) and International Students (5%).

UPM’s continuous success in international bodies evaluation proves that UPM is on the right track in providing the best higher education ecosystem for local and international students.

It is also in line with UPM's vision of becoming a renowned university with international reputation.

The impressive performance is the result of the cooperation and commitment of all UPM staff and its members who are committed to position UPM in the best world position. This achievement has also motivated UPM community to continue to strive towards achieving the aspirations and targets of the university’s Putra Global 100 (PG100), which is to be among the 100 best universities in the world within the next five years.

The Strategic Plan 2021-2025 and the Transformation Plan Beyond 2025 which are being formulated will become an important platform that will continue UPM's legacy of excellence internationally. - UPM
