UPM And Oxus University (OU) Sign MoU Together to Strengthen International Cooperation

 

“UPM and Oxus University (OU) Sign MoU Together to Strengthen International Cooperation Especially in the Implementation of Postgraduate Offshore Programmes”

Uzbekistan, 4th of March 2024 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the School of Business and Economics (SPE) has entered into a strategic collaboration with Oxus University, Uzbekistan (OU) in a signing ceremony at Oxus University, Uzbekistan to strengthen international cooperation especially in the implementation of Postgraduate Offshore Programmes.

The MoU was signed by the Vice Chancellor of UPM, and witnessed by Prof. Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin (Dean of SPE) on behalf of UPM, while OU by Prof. Emeritus Dato' Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim (OU Rector). Additionally, in attendance to observe the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr Anuar Shah Bali Mahomed (SPE Graduate Deputy Dean), Mr Bakhtishod Khamidov (OU Vice Rector for Administration and Student Affairs) and Mr Imam Hamid (OU Registrar).

Through this collaboration, SPE will implement the Postgraduate Offshore Programmes in Uzbekistan at Oxus University. The proposed implementation of the SPE Postgraduate Offshore Programmes is expected to begin offering from November 2024 admission after obtaining implementation approval. Among the programs proposed in the offering are Master's programmes by coursework, namely Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Economics, Master of Finance and Master of Entrepreneurship as well as two (2) new programmes that are still in the approval process, namely Master in Human Resources and Organization and Master in Sustainable Accounting.

Among the collaborations that were also agreed upon include various initiatives, including student and/or staff exchanges to strengthen cross-cultural understanding and knowledge. In addition, joint research and development as well as joint workshops and training programs will be implemented to increase innovation and feasibility. Joint academic programs and executive courses will provide holistic learning opportunities. Policy empowerment of research laboratories, knowledge exchange to policy makers, and publication exchange will be the basis for knowledge development and information sharing.

This collaboration reflects the determination of both parties to build a strong relationship in education as well as pursue innovation through knowledge sharing. In addition, this collaboration creates an opportunity to be a strategic partner in academic exchange and mobility for lecturers, researchers, and students, further supporting UPM's SPE generation initiative in strengthening lifelong learning. Oxus University's active efforts in establishing cooperation with external institutions, including UPM, is also an important factor in strengthening this cooperation.
